I am a Systems Analyst full time but I also own a small (yet growing) lawncare company on the side. I have worked as a graphic artist, a public speaker, an account manager and a project engineer. I grew up in a middle class home in Louisville, KY and am the youngest of three siblings.
I am fueled by my passion for studying the meaning of life and what makes each one of us see things the way we do. We have all endured some measure of difficulty in life, I certainly have. And after losing my father to a heart attack when I was 16, my sister to suicide, my mother to cancer (with Alzheimer’s) all followed by a divorce after 17 years of marriage, I have thankfully landed in this next chapter of life with a passion to rebuild better than ever. Tragedy can do different things to a person. It can bring them down and ruin their life, or it can give them wisdom and appreciation for what remains. So much of life is about how we choose to see it and where we choose to look.
My purpose for this blog is to have my own outlet of writing but also to provide a community for anyone who wishes to rebuild after a challenging past. This is a place where we can find personal reflections on life’s lessons, as well as expert interviews and articles. Here will see advice from Life Coaches, modern day philosophers, therapists and many others. This is all about our personal growth, our day to day rebuilding of life, and ultimately our life’s purpose. Together we can grow and create our path each day to the most fulfilling life (not just to help ourselves but to help others around us). With this platform, in this community the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
I am Kevin Schickel, and this is my next Good Life. I hope it becomes a part of yours too.
